The official OLA website is www.oklax.org. A Brief History of Lacrosse in Oklahoma In the spring of 2006, the City of Edmond Parks and Recreation department established the boys and girls lacrosse program in the City of Edmond. Since its inception, the program has shown substantial growth; with an overall increase in player participation of 231%. As a result of this growth, in the spring of 2008, a group of parents and volunteers incorporated as a non-profit Oklahoma corporation to assist Edmond Parks and Recreation with promotion of the program to include marketing, fund raising, and scholarships. In June of 2009, Edmond Parks and Recreation transferred primary operational responsibility of the lacrosse program to the Edmond Lacrosse Club, Inc., which then changed to Central Oklahoma Youth Lacrosse (COYL). Eventually, youth teams grew into high school programs including Capital City United, Deer Creek, Edmond North Huskies and numerous programs in the Tulsa area.
